Date Set for New CDM
6th Sep, 2006 to 6th Dec, 2006
The HSE has announced that the revised Construction (Design and Management) Regulations will be implemented in Spring 2007. They will revise the existing CDM Regulations 1994 and the Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996, and bring them together into a single package.
In response to the three-month consultation exercise, the HSC has agreed to postpone implementation from 1 October 2006 to Spring 2007.
Stephen Williams, the HSE’s chief inspector of construction, said: “The revised CDM Regulations will replace two key sets of existing regulations. We need more time to make sure we get the changes right and the industry also needs to have adequate time to familiarise itself with the finalised CDM package.
The new ACoP is now at an advanced stage. The proposed new Regulations have a simple requirement for all persons involved in construction work to be competent.
